Jean Lowe (Sait) has contact Metfield Web with some interesting history relating to the Huntsman and Hounds.

“I used to live in Metfield from shortly after my birth in 1942 until the family moved to Harleston in 1954. I attended the village school until I went on to Sir John Leman, Beccles. After which I moved out of East Anglia. Although I have been back to the village a few times I didn't get to see the old photographs in the village hall.
My grandfather Henry Sait came from the East End of London and ran the Huntsman and Hounds pub from ca 1940 until his death in 1946. He is buried in the churchyard. I have attached 3 photos of family outside the pub. Not sure if they are of any use to you. Judging by the age of my brother John (the baby) they were taken 1940-41. I have just ordered the books written by Evelyn Whiting and Victor Pesket from Amazon but I don't think they will have much about the history of the The Huntsman and Hounds in them or any memories of the time when my grandfather was at the pub. I know it was a favourite haunt of the American airmen on the airbase. I would love to have more information to add to my family history of that time and would be grateful if you would pass on my email to anyone who might be able to help me or have photos that I could pay for copies of.
I also wondered if anyone has a copy of the film, I think it was called 'Requiem for a Village' which was made in Metfield probably late 1960s which had a lot of the villagers in it. I know it can be viewed at The National Film Theatre in London but I don't know if it is in video format yet.
Thank you for any help.
Best Wishes
Jean Lowe(Sait)
